This site is a personal, professional space where I document practical observations
and thinking around IT infrastructure, Linux platforms, and cybersecurity.
Who I am

My name is Kevin Wells. I am a senior Linux infrastructure and security engineer with
over twenty years of hands-on experience working across the UK and mainland Europe.
My background is rooted in enterprise Linux environments, platform operations,
automation, and security work carried out in operationally complex and often regulated
settings.
Over the years, I have worked in large organisations, public-sector environments,
academic institutions, and smaller teams that depend on stable, professionally operated
systems.
I have worked extensively in multi-national and cross-border environments and am
comfortable working in both English and German. My professional background is
practical and production-focused, with an emphasis on controls and approaches that
stand up in day-to-day operations.
I hold industry-recognised certifications including CompTIA Security+, AWS Solutions
Architect Associate, and LPIC, and I am UK Government Security Check (SC) cleared.
Selected certifications
Credentials reflecting background in Linux engineering, security fundamentals,
and cloud architecture.
Professional background
For much of my career, I worked in long-term roles within large organisations,
supporting internal IT, infrastructure, and security teams responsible for live,
business-critical systems.
These environments were often operationally complex and regulated, where reliability,
access control, and disciplined system management were essential rather than optional.
My experience includes work in:
- Large enterprise and corporate environments
- Financial services and banking infrastructure
- UK and European public-sector organisations
- Academic and research institutions
This background shapes how I think about security today: favouring controls that are
robust, proportionate, and maintainable over time, rather than complex solutions that
look good on paper but struggle in practice.
About this site
KW Cybersecurity exists as a place to collect and share practical notes, observations,
and frameworks related to Linux platforms, identity and access, and operational
security.
The material here reflects experience and reflection rather than prescriptive advice.
It is written primarily for technically minded readers who value realism, context, and
clarity.
